Statement
My earliest memory of wanting to be an artist probably dates to when I first saw the Colonial etchings on the plates my family ate on. That's a craft I'd still like to learn, among others. I studied art and engineering drafting in all my middle and high school years, which amounts to all of my formal education in this field.
As far as the subject of female nudes is concerned, I was first inspired by the great Alberto Varga, but other artists have moved me as well. I've been drawing nudes in pencil since I was 20 (1974). At the time, I was duplicating magazine images for practice, then giving them all to my friends and family.
That was fun and ok for a time, but I broke through the barrier from doing "good" to really knowing what I was doing and decided I had to start working from my own images sooner or later so I could reproduce them and make a dime with pencil and paper. I made a decent living as a photographer throughout the 1990's, but that's not all I want to do with my life. I'm also a lifelong musician, and I spend as much spare time as I possibly can working on original music. I have a career elsewhere that occupies my time and ensures my future, but this is where I live. Art, music and general creativity have been consuming my attention all my life.
My hope is that these drawings and photographs will enter into the collectors' world and grow in stature. If nothing else comes of it, I will have at least created images that will last and others will enjoy long after I have gone. I am encouraged to continue offering my skills to the world of collectors, and I polish my presentation daily.
Thanks for stopping by.
